What should my baby wear?
A double layering system is preferrable. A disposable swim nappy, eg. Huggies and a swim
costume over the top. The STA sell nappy covers - www.sta.co.uk.
What age can by baby start swimming?
babysplashers classes are suitable from birth
up to three years old. There is no need to wait for their immunisations. (see www.immunisation.nhs.uk put 'swimming' into the search engine), What should I do if my baby has a cold?
If baby has a heavy cold then it is advisable to miss the class for that
week.
What if my baby is unwell?
If your baby has a sickness/diarrhoea bug please do not come swimming. The guidelines for chicken pox are to
return when all the spots have scabbed over.
Will I get a refund if I miss a week?
Unfortunately babysplashers cannot offer refunds for missed
swimming weeks, however, if there is a space on another day/venue you may be able to make up the class that
way. This is a goodwill gesture and may not always be possible.
Will I need to go underwater with
my baby?
No, it is not essential for you
to submerge and this will not be used in the first two stages of the course. In the later stages it is optional and
can be a very enjoyable experience being underwater with your baby.
What happens if the pool is closed?
On the rare occasion the pool is closed you will be given a credit for the
next term or offered a refund.
Do I need to practice in between classes?
Yes, always practice the 'Name, Ready, Go's in the bath or at the pool.
It is not advisable to do submersions in a non-class environment without a teacher present.
Can I
bring my husband/partner/grandparents along?
Different
venues have different rules on spectators so please check with Louise first.
Do you offer professional underwater
photography sessions?
Yes, these are truly
unique and exclusive to babysplashers. Once your baby has completed at least two courses
and is able to do an unaided underwater swim you are eligible for the shoot. There is an additional charge for this
optional shoot (samples of previous shoots can be found in the gallery).
Can I bring my
own camera?
Unfortunately not, due to strict child protection
policies.
